"This tendency to look inactive and to go in the direction, in the arts, of a kind of primitivity which we know in the word shibui—the quality called shibui in Japan is a certain kind of sophisticated primitivity. [...] Where you see, man and nature are really collaborating. Man as the controller, the reasoner, the logical being, and yet at the same time not ruining life by making it all logic and all control. To have logic and to have control—that is to say, in short: to have order—you have to have randomness."
— Alan Watts

Our Mission
In the spirit of our name, our farm's mission is to work in balance with the chaos of nature to provide healthy food and a place of peace for our family, our community, and our ecosystem. We know that stewardship of the land is not about ultimate control but primarily about listening through observation and occasionally suggesting what direction things might go in. Our farm does not use any chemical pesticides, fertilizers, or insecticides. We do not use any fossil fuels in our production, either.
Our goal is to create a bio-diverse landscape using permaculture principals to provide perennial fruits and nuts, mushrooms and culinary and medicinal herbs while protecting our native wildlife. Our holistic approach integrates animals into the natural system of food production by providing fossil-fuel free tillage and mowing as well as naturally derived, organic compost to our crops. These animals provide joy and companionship on our farm as well as fresh eggs. Unique and/or unconventional varieties of annual produce will also be cultivated.
We want to share our joy with you through farm shares in the not-too-distant future. We hope you will visit us - please let us know if you have questions or comments. We would love to know what you want to help grow.
Stay connected.
